Bugera PS1 Power Soak 100W Power Attenuator
A passive 100 W attenuator that lets tube amps run at full gain while controlling speaker volume through 4, 8 or 16 ohm loads and adds a line output plus emulated mic output for recording or re-amping
- Extract optimal tone at any volume with 100 W passive attenuation
- Match 4, 8 or 16 Ohm amps via multi-impedance inputs
- Send direct signal to PA or recorder using line output with level control
- Capture mic'd cab sound silently through emulated mic output
- Drive amp hard for saturated tone without excessive stage volume
Guitar and bass amplifier attenuator
The Bugera PS1 Power Soak is a passive 100W power attenuator built for guitar and bass amplifiers. It sits between the amplifier and the speaker cabinet so players can drive tubes hard while keeping the listening volume low. Multi-impedance input connectors accept 4, 8 or 16 Ohm loads, matching virtually any tube amp up to the rated power.
Emulated mic output and line output
A dedicated line output with its own level control sends a signal to external power amplifiers, extra cabinets or effects processors. The innovative Emulated Mic Output reproduces the character of a microphone placed in front of the speaker, giving a consistent tone for recording or front-of-house feeds without an actual mic. Both outputs work at any attenuation setting.
Simple series connection
Installation is a single series link: amp speaker out to the PS1 input, then PS1 output to the cabinet. No mains power or batteries are required because the unit is completely passive. The only common issue is forgetting to match the impedance selector to the cabinet, which can stress the amplifier’s output transformer.

Questions about this item
Will the 100 W attenuator or its passive components need periodic replacement?
The PS1 Power Soak is a passive 100 W attenuator with no active electronics, so it has no tubes, fans or firmware that wear out.
What thermal or power limit appears first when running a 100 W amp continuously?
The unit is rated for 100 W continuous input; sustained full-power use stays within that single thermal ceiling.
Does the passive 100 W design add audible noise or heat during all-day sessions?
Being completely passive, it adds no fan noise or active circuitry hum, and heat stays within the 100 W rating.
