Verify Wire Gauge and Torque Tooling

Before ordering, confirm that the existing grounding conductor falls within the 10 to 4 AWG solid or 10 to 5 AWG stranded range. Ensure a torque wrench capable of delivering 180 in-lb is available for proper installation of the 5/16 in. -18 thread stud.

Thermal and Electrical Performance

The leaded bronze alloy construction provides reliable conductivity for grounding circuits under normal load. Mechanical bolt pressure maintains a secure connection without reliance on solder or compression tools. The UL467 listing confirms compliance with safety standards for grounding and bonding equipment.

Questions about this item

Does the KC20 bolt connector come with any grounding wire or lugs, or must those be purchased separately?

The connector is sold by itself; grounding wire in the 10 to 4 AWG solid or 10 to 5 AWG stranded range and any lugs must be sourced separately.

Should I choose this KC20 model or a different size for a 6 AWG stranded ground conductor?

This model accepts up to 5 AWG stranded, so 6 AWG stranded falls outside its range; select a larger split-bolt connector rated for that gauge.

What does the 180 in-lb installation torque mean when I tighten the bolt on a real job?

Tighten the 5/16-18 stud to 180 in-lb with a calibrated torque wrench to meet the UL 467 direct-burial listing requirements.
