Tin-plated aluminium split-bolt connector rated to 35 kV, accepting 2 AWG to 4/0 AWG run and 4 AWG to 4/0 AWG tap conductors with 500 in-lb torque and 194 °F maximum temperature
The Burndy KSA4/0 is a tin-plated aluminum split-bolt connector rated for 35 kV maximum voltage. It accepts aluminum or copper conductors ranging from 2 AWG to 4/0 AWG on the run side and 4 AWG or 6 AWG to 4/0 AWG on the tap side. The connector features a square head style with a 1.49 in hex nut and an overall length of 2.52 in.
The aluminum body with tin-plated finish provides durability in electrical installations. A torque specification of 500 in-lb ensures secure connections when installed with proper tooling. The connector operates up to a maximum temperature of 194 Degrees F and meets RoHS compliance standards for restricted substances.
This voltage rating determines suitability for medium-voltage applications up to 35 kV. Installers must verify that the system voltage does not exceed this limit. The connector is not intended for systems requiring higher voltage ratings or for conductors outside the specified AWG ranges.

The connector is rated for a maximum of 35 kV, so it can be used on circuits up to that voltage.
The body measures 2.52 in long and 1.13 in wide, and the square-head bolt requires a 1.49 in wrench for tightening.
Insert the run and tap conductors, then tighten the square-head bolt to 500 in-lb using a 1.49 in wrench; skipping the torque spec is the common error.
