Splice Kit for 250 kcmil Conductors
This IDEAL 46-403 kit provides heat-shrink splices rated for cables up to 250 kcmil. It suits electricians joining motor leads, pool wiring or power cables in residential and light-commercial work. The cross-linked polyolefin tubing carries an adhesive liner that seals against moisture when heated.
Replaces Taped or Mechanical Splices
The kit upgrades from vinyl tape or bare mechanical connectors by adding a waterproof, insulated seal that meets the 221 °F maximum operating temperature. The jump is worth it when the installation must survive direct burial, wet locations or vibration that would degrade a taped joint over time.
Limited to 0.7 in Maximum Cable OD
The supplied tubing only fits conductors with an outside diameter up to .7 in, so larger feeders or multi-conductor bundles cannot use this kit. It also requires a heat source capable of fully shrinking the polyolefin; open-flame torches risk uneven recovery and are not recommended by the manufacturer.
