A crimping die for 4 AWG copper lugs compatible with W-style hand and power crimpers rated up to 6 tons
This Burndy W4CVT crimping die set provides upper and lower dies for terminating 4 AWG copper lugs. It is designed for electricians and technicians who need reliable compression connections using W-style tooling. The gray connector colour code matches the die for quick identification on the job site.
As a passive hand-tool accessory, this die set generates no heat, produces no noise and draws no power during operation. Performance depends entirely on the crimping tool used, such as the CSMD, MD6, MD7, PAT500SJ, PAT600 or Y500CTHS series. The dies themselves add no operational overhead.
The dies accept a maximum copper lug size of 4 AWG and are rated for use with tools delivering up to 6 tons of crimping force. This capacity determines whether the die suits the conductor size in your application. Buyers needing to terminate larger gauge wire must select a different die set.

Insert the upper and lower die halves into the tool head until they lock, then verify the gray colour code faces outward to match 4 AWG copper lugs.
Inspect the die surfaces for wear or deformation after heavy use; replace the set if the crimp profile no longer meets the 6-ton force specification.
The 6-ton maximum crimping force is the limiting factor; sustained operation at that level will cause heat buildup in the tool head before the die itself fails.
