Burndy 4/0 AWG Compression Lug

The Burndy YAD28M16E58 is a one-hole compression lug built for 4/0 AWG copper conductors. Its long, brazed barrel accepts the maximum wire size and is designed for permanent crimp termination in heavy-duty electrical installations. The bare copper barrel carries a tin finish for corrosion resistance.

Suited for 600 V copper circuits

This lug fits projects that require a single 5/8 inch stud connection on 4/0 AWG wire. It is not intended for insulated terminals, multi-hole mounting patterns or smaller conductor gauges. Buyers who need colour-coded insulation or a different stud diameter should select another part.

Long barrel for 4/0 AWG crimp

The barrel measures 0.87 inches long with a 0.89 inch outside diameter, providing the crimp length specified for the maximum wire size. The tongue width is 1.1 inches and the contact surface is tin-plated copper. The component meets UL 467 and is rated to 302 degrees Fahrenheit.

Questions about this item

How much heat can the copper lug handle during continuous heavy-current use?

The lug is rated for a maximum operating temperature of 302 degrees F, so it will withstand sustained high-current loads without degrading.

What crimp tooling is required to terminate a 4/0 AWG conductor in this lug?

Use a crimp tool and die set approved for 4/0 AWG copper with a long barrel; the lug accepts wire sizes from 4/0 AWG minimum to 4/0 AWG maximum.

Will this lug fit on the same 5/8-inch stud pattern used by older bus-bar hardware?

Yes, the one-hole tongue is drilled for a 5/8-inch stud and the 1.1-inch tongue width matches common legacy bus-bar spacing.
