Plug-in 40 A automotive circuit breaker with automatic reset, rated 14 V DC and 1.5 kA interrupt, SAE J553 compliant
The Bussmann CBC-40B is a heavy-duty automatic-reset circuit breaker rated at 40 A for 14 V DC truck electrical systems. It mounts via a plug-in surface stud and accepts #10-32 ring terminals. The thermoplastic and metal housing meets SAE J553 requirements for overcurrent protection.
This breaker can safely interrupt up to 1.5 kA of fault current at its rated voltage. Circuits that may see higher prospective short-circuit currents need a device with a greater interrupt rating. The automatic reset function restores power after a trip without manual intervention.
The breaker cycles open and closed until the overload is removed, which suits non-critical accessory circuits. It is not suitable for applications that require a manual reset or a latching trip to prevent repeated cycling on a persistent fault.
