Plug-in 20 A circuit breaker protects 12 V DC truck circuits with a modified reset and glass-tube style housing
The Bussmann CBF-20 is a plug-in automotive circuit breaker rated at 20 A for 12 V DC systems. It suits trucks and other vehicles that use glass-tube fuse blocks and need a resettable alternative to a standard glass-tube fuse. The modified reset mechanism and plastic housing are built for surface-mount installations in automotive electrical panels.
This breaker replaces a 20 A glass-tube fuse in compatible fuse blocks, providing a reusable protection device that avoids single-use fuse replacement. The jump is worth it when a circuit experiences occasional overloads that would otherwise blow fuses repeatedly, or when maintenance access makes fuse changes inconvenient. It is not suited for circuits requiring higher interrupt capacity than 1 kA at 12 V DC.
Installation consists of plugging the blade terminals into an existing glass-tube fuse block, requiring no tools or wiring changes. The surface-mount style and overall dimensions of 14 3/4 in depth, 7 1/2 in height, and 9 1/4 in width must match the available panel space. Common issues include selecting a breaker with the wrong current rating for the protected circuit or exceeding the 1 kA interrupt rating in a high-fault-current scenario.

The breaker is 14 3/4 in deep, 9 1/4 in wide and 7 1/2 in high, so compare those dimensions with the space inside your fuse block before ordering.
Push the blade terminals straight into the glass-tube fuse block until they seat fully; the common mistake is angling the breaker, which can spread the blades and cause a loose connection.
Replace it if it trips repeatedly at normal load, if the plastic housing shows heat damage, or if the blade terminals become corroded or loose in the fuse block.
