USB 3.0 Active Optical Extension Cable 40m

This BZBGEAR cable extends a USB 3.0 Type-A connection over forty metres using fibre optics. It is built for installers and technicians who need to place super-speed peripherals far beyond the reach of standard copper cables. The male-to-female design plugs directly into a host port and a device without extra adapters.

Capacity and headroom

The link carries USB 3.0 traffic at up to 5Gbps across the full forty-metre span. It is incompatible with USB 2.0 or 1.1 devices, so older peripherals will not function. Only self-powered USB 3.0 equipment can be used, as the cable draws its operating power from the host and does not supply bus power to downstream devices.

Bundled accessories and software

No separate power supply or driver disc is included; the integrated optical transceiver operates on host power alone. UASP support is native on Windows 8, 10 and 11, so no additional software installation is required for accelerated transfers on those platforms.

Questions about this item

Will the BG-CAB-U3A40 let me keep using my USB 2.0 scanner at the full 40 m reach?

No — the cable supports USB 3.0 devices only and is not compatible with USB 2.0 or 1.1 peripherals.

How can I verify the link is running at 5 Gbps after I plug it in?

Check the host controller speed in Device Manager or System Information; it should report SuperSpeed USB 3.0 at 5 Gbps when the connection is active.

Does the 40 m package include a power adapter or do I need to buy one?

No separate power adapter is included or required; the cable draws power from the connected host and is designed for self-powered peripherals only.
