8x8 HDMI and HDBaseT Matrix Switch

The BG-UM88-150L-KIT is an 8x8 matrix switcher designed for commercial AV installations requiring distribution of up to eight 4K sources to sixteen displays. It provides eight HDMI outputs mirrored to eight HDBaseT outputs for extended reach. Installers managing conference rooms, digital signage or education spaces can route any input to any output independently.

HDMI 2.0 bandwidth and HDBaseT distance limits

The switch operates within an 18Gbps bandwidth ceiling, supporting 4K at 60Hz 4:4:4 on all HDMI and HDBaseT ports. HDBaseT extends 4K signals up to 120 metres and 1080p signals up to 150 metres over category cable. Downscaling from 4K to 1080p is available per output. Buyers needing uncompressed 4K at higher refresh rates or longer 4K extension distances cannot be accommodated by this standard.

HDCP 2.2 compliance and 7.1 audio pass-through

HDCP 2.2 compliance ensures compatibility with protected 4K content sources such as streaming devices and Blu-ray players. The matrix passes through multi-channel audio formats up to 7.1 channels including Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. Systems requiring HDCP 2.3 or newer content protection standards will not function correctly with this unit.

Questions about this item

Should I use the HDMI or HDBaseT outputs for my 4K displays?

Both output types support 4K@60Hz 4:4:4. Use HDMI for local displays within cable range, and HDBaseT for runs up to 120m at 4K or 150m at 1080p.

What does the 18Gbps bandwidth deliver on an actual screen?

It carries uncompressed 4K@60Hz 4:4:4 video with HDR and up to 7.1-channel HD audio without chroma subsampling or compression.

Does HDBaseT limit resolution or distance compared to HDMI?

HDBaseT mirrors the HDMI specs: 4K@60Hz 4:4:4 up to 120m, 1080p up to 150m, with PoC powering the remote receivers.
