A 5Gbps USB 3.2 to RJ45 network adapter with dual USB-A and USB-C connectors, using the Realtek RTL8157 chipset for 2.5Gbps and 1Gbps fallback speeds
The C&N UC57 adds a 5Gbps RJ45 port to any PC or laptop through a USB 3.2 connection. It uses the Realtek RTL8157 controller and supports 5000, 2500, 1000, 100 and 10 Mbps link speeds. The adapter works with Windows, Mac OS and Linux once the required driver is installed.
A single cable ends in both a USB-A and a USB-C plug so you can switch between legacy and modern ports without carrying a separate dongle. The device complies with USB 3.2 Gen2 and IEEE 802.3bz standards and falls back to USB 2.0 or 3.0 at reduced throughput. Advanced power management reduces energy draw during idle periods.
This unit upgrades a 1000 Mbps USB adapter when your broadband exceeds 1 Gbps and your router or switch offers 2.5G or 5G ports. The jump is worth it only if you connect with a CAT6A or better cable to a USB 3.2 Gen2 host port. Buyers whose network infrastructure stops at 1 Gbps will not see a speed benefit.

Yes, the RTL8157 chipset supports 5000 Mbps over USB 3.2 Gen2; connect to a USB 3.2 or higher port and use CAT6A cable to reach that rate.
It plugs into either USB-A or USB-C and requires a CAT6A or higher RJ45 Ethernet cable for 5 Gbps operation.
Downloading and installing the Realtek RTL8157 driver before first use; without it the adapter falls back to slower speeds.
