USB 3.0 Type-B 10ft Cable

This 10ft USB 3.0 A to B cable links desktop external hard drives, powered hubs, docking stations, 3.5-inch enclosures, scanners and monitors that have a Type-B 3.0 port to a computer for fast file transfer. It is built with gold-plated connectors, bare copper conductors, foil and braid shielding and moulded strain relief for durability.

SuperSpeed 5 Gbps Limit

The cable delivers up to 5 Gbps data transfer when both host and device support USB 3.0, but it will not fit or function with USB 2.0 Type-B ports because the connector shape is different. Maximum throughput depends on the port capabilities at each end.

Check Your Device Port

Verify that the peripheral you want to connect uses a USB 3.0 Type-B port — it has nine pins and a distinct blue insert — before ordering. This cable is incompatible with the smaller USB 2.0 Type-B connector found on many older printers and scanners.

Questions about this item

Should I pick this 10ft length or a shorter cable for my setup?

Choose the 10ft version when the host and device are farther apart, such as a floor-standing drive enclosure; a shorter cable reduces clutter on a desk.

What does the 5 Gbps rating mean when I copy files to an external drive?

The cable supports SuperSpeed USB 3.0 up to 5 Gbps, so large transfers run at the full speed the drive and host controller allow.

How does the USB 3.0 Type-B connector limit what I can plug in?

The USB-B 3.0 plug fits only USB 3.0 Type-B ports on docks, 3.5-inch enclosures, hubs, and scanners; it will not fit USB 2.0 Type-B ports on older printers.
