It carries up to 40 Gbps of bi‑directional data, delivers up to 240 W of power under PD 3.1 Extended Power Range, and drives an 8K display at 60 Hz or dual 4K screens. Thunderbolt 3 and Thunderbolt 4 devices are fully supported, so the same lead works for laptops, tablets, phones and docks that use a USB‑C port.

Thermals noise and power draw in normal use

The cable handles PD 3.1, PD 3.0 PPS, PD 2.0, QC 4.0, QC 3.0, AFC, SCP and FCP profiles, automatically negotiating the highest voltage the attached charger and device allow. Supported fixed voltages include 48 V at 240 W, 36 V at 180 W and 28 V at 140 W, with backward compatibility down to 100 W, 60 W and lower. No active cooling or fan is present; the nylon‑braided jacket simply carries the negotiated current.
