Port & Network Expansion

The Cable Matters 202026-BLK-E adds three USB-A 3.0 ports and a Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 jack through a single USB connection. It suits laptops, tablets, or desktops that lack enough ports or a wired network jack. The hub is bus-powered and driver-free on Windows, macOS, Linux, and Chrome OS.

Travel-ready vs desktop limits

Mobile workers and hot-desk users gain a compact, 40 gram adapter with a short folding cable tail that reduces strain on the host port. Buyers who need to charge devices from the hub should look elsewhere, as it is not a standalone charger. It also supports only one bus-powered external hard drive at a time.

Single USB 3.0 host port required

Maximum 5 Gbps USB throughput and 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet speeds are only available when the host provides a USB 3.0 port. A Cat6 cable is recommended for Gigabit performance. If the host port is USB 2.0, both USB and network speeds will be lower.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the black 40 g model or is there another colour or weight option?

The hub is offered only in black and weighs 40 grams, so there is no alternative colour or weight to choose from.

What does the 1000 Mbps Ethernet rating deliver when I plug it into my laptop?

It provides a gigabit wired link that auto-negotiates at 10, 100 or 1000 Mbps, giving stable throughput for large downloads and streaming where Wi-Fi is weak.

The hub uses a USB 3.0 connection — what speed ceiling does that impose on the three USB-A ports and the Ethernet port?

The USB 3.0 host link caps the three USB-A ports at 5 Gbps shared bandwidth and the Ethernet port at its rated 1000 Mbps, so neither can exceed the host connection.
