DisplayPort 1.1a to VGA adapter
The CableCreation adapter converts a DisplayPort 1.1a source to a VGA input, supporting up to 1920 x 1080 at 60 Hz and 1920 x 1200. A built-in IC chip handles the digital-to-analogue conversion with a triple 10-bit, 162 MHz video DAC. Gold-plated connectors and foil-and-braid shielding maintain signal integrity. A VGA cable is required separately.
Users extending or mirroring to legacy displays
Ideal for connecting laptops, desktops or PCs to older monitors, projectors or HDTVs that only accept VGA. The plug-and-play design needs no driver installation, making it practical for presentations or a home-theatre setup. It is not bi-directional, so it cannot drive a DisplayPort display from a VGA source. Buyers needing higher resolutions, refresh rates above 60 Hz or audio pass-through should look at other solutions.
1080p 60 Hz headroom and limits
The adapter comfortably handles standard 1080p office work, video playback and mirrored desktop modes at 60 Hz. The 5.4 Gbps bandwidth over two lanes covers 1920 x 1200 without compression. Beyond 1080p 60 Hz the DAC and DisplayPort 1.1a receiver reach their ceiling, so 1440p, 4K or high-refresh gaming are not supported. The one-way design also means it cannot adapt VGA sources to DisplayPort sinks.

Questions about this item
Do I need a separate VGA cable to connect this adapter to my monitor?
Yes, a VGA cable is required and sold separately; the adapter provides a female VGA port for that cable.
Will this adapter work with a DisplayPort 1.1 source on my older laptop?
Yes, the adapter is DisplayPort 1.1a compliant and accepts a 5.4 Gbps signal over two lanes from a DP 1.1 source.
How can I verify the adapter is delivering 1080p at 60 Hz after I plug it in?
Set the display to 1920 x 1080 at 60 Hz in your OS display settings; the built-in 162 MHz triple 10-bit DAC supports that mode.
