SKU CH-CTGA-BN3BY

Connects two serial devices with crossed transmit and receive lines for direct data communication over ten feet

  • Crossed transmit/receive signals enable direct DTE-to-DCE communication
  • Foil shielding blocks EMI/RFI from office equipment and lights
  • Overmolded construction adds strain relief for a solid connection
  • Thumbscrew connectors give a fast, secure attachment every time
  • 10-foot beige cable suits standard serial RS-232 setups

DB9 Null Modem Cable 10 ft

This beige serial cable connects two DTE or DCE devices directly using crossed transmit and receive lines. It supports RS-232 communication over a 10 foot length. The DB9 female connectors feature thumbscrews for secure attachment.

Foil shielding and overmolded strain relief

Foil shielding blocks EMI and RFI from nearby office equipment and fluorescent lights. The rugged overmolded construction adds strain relief at each connector end. Thumbscrew connectors allow fast, tool-free mating.

Direct device link for legacy serial gear

The cable handles standard serial links between compatible DTE and DCE equipment. It cannot convert signal levels or adapt to USB, Ethernet or other modern interfaces. Buyers needing longer runs, different connector genders or protocol conversion will need additional adapters.

Questions about this item

Will the foil shielding or thumbscrew connectors on this 10-foot DB9 null modem cable need periodic replacement?

The foil shielding and overmolded strain relief are built into the cable assembly and are not user-serviceable parts; the thumbscrew connectors are moulded on and do not require replacement under normal use.

What is the first limit reached when this RS-232 cable runs at its maximum 232 kbps rate continuously?

Signal integrity over the 10-foot length is the limiting factor; the foil shielding controls EMI/RFI, but attenuation and crosstalk set the practical distance ceiling at the rated speed.

Does the cable generate noticeable heat or draw extra power when left connected all day?

As a passive copper cable it draws no power and produces no measurable heat; the only thermal consideration is the ambient temperature rating of the jacket material.
