Cables To Go USB to Parallel Printer Cable DB25 16899

SKU CH-AAWP-XPB99

Connects a parallel printer to a USB port, keeping the parallel port free and eliminating switchboxes for multiple printers

  • Product typeAT
  • Connect parallel printers via USB using DB25 adapter
  • Keeps legacy parallel port free for other devices
  • Supports multiple printers without a switchbox
  • Auto-negotiates hardware recognition for faster setup
  • Plug-and-play bi-directional communication with IEEE-1284 printers

Connect legacy parallel printers via USB

This adapter cable connects IEEE-1284 printers to a USB port on a PC or hub. It keeps the legacy parallel port free and allows multiple printers to attach through separate USB connections. The cable removes the need for a parallel switchbox and works with the operating system's USB Printing Support function. It is designed for standard parallel printers and does not support multi-function devices.

USB Printing Support replaces LPT port creation

The adapter relies on the USB Printing Support function of the operating system and does not create a virtual LPT port. Software that expects a direct LPT address will not recognise the printer through this cable. It auto-negotiates hardware recognition for plug-and-play setup but cannot drive non-printer parallel peripherals. Bi-directional communication is supported for compatible printers.

Six-foot cable with molded DB25 connector

The 6ft length provides reach between a desktop or laptop and a nearby printer. Molded connectors add strain relief for repeated insertion and removal. The cable handles single-printer workflows and multi-printer setups where each unit gets its own USB port. It runs out when the application requires a true LPT interface or when the target device is not a standard parallel printer.

Questions about this item

Is the 6ft DB25 cable the only length available for the 16899 model?

The 16899 model is supplied as a 6ft cable with moulded connectors for durability.

Will this USB to parallel adapter deliver the same throughput as a native IEEE-1284 port?

The adapter uses the operating system USB Printing Support function and does not create an LPT port, so throughput follows the USB printing subsystem rather than a native parallel interface.

Since it carries an IEEE-1284 label, does the DB25 end support ECP and EPP modes?

The adapter is designed for standard parallel printers and is not intended for multi-function or other parallel devices; it relies on the OS USB printing stack instead of exposing ECP or EPP modes.
