Tri-radio Wi-Fi 6 indoor access point with software-defined 5 GHz radios configurable as dual 4x4 or single 8x8 streams plus a fixed 2.4 GHz 4x4 radio

  • Software-defined 5 GHz radios enable dual 4x4 or single 8x8 streams for flexible capacity
  • Fixed 2.4 GHz radio delivers 4x4 streams with 802.11ax MU-MIMO and OFDMA support
  • 1 GbE and 5 GbE RJ45 ports provide high-speed wired connectivity for demanding networks
  • Powered by 802.3bt or 802.3at PoE for simplified deployment without separate power supplies
  • Integrated BLE 4.1 radio adds location services and IoT capability in one device

Cambium XV3-8 Tri-Radio Access Point

The Cambium XV3-8 is a Wi-Fi 6 indoor access point built for high-density environments such as enterprise offices, education campuses, retail spaces and public venues. It uses a five-radio architecture to deliver high capacity and integrated edge services in a single device.

Software-defined 5 GHz radios

Two software-defined 5 GHz radios operate as dual 4x4 streams or combine into a single 8x8 stream, while a fixed 2.4 GHz radio provides 4x4 streams. A dedicated scanning sensor monitors the RF environment continuously, and a BLE 4.1 radio enables location services. Uplink connectivity comes through one 1 GbE and one 5GbE RJ45 port, powered by 802.3bt or 802.3at PoE.

Replaces separate APs, scanners and BLE beacons

This access point consolidates the functions of multiple discrete devices, reducing hardware count and cabling in dense deployments. The upgrade is worth it when a network requires simultaneous high-throughput client access, continuous spectrum analysis and Bluetooth-based location services managed through XMS-Cloud, cnMaestro Cloud, on-premises VM or the c4000 appliance.

Questions about this item

What maximum data rate does the 5GbE RJ45 interface cap in practice?

The 5GbE RJ45 port supports up to 5 Gbps wired throughput, matching the AP's 6 Gbps aggregate wireless capacity.

What mounting hardware or physical space does the XV3-8 need?

The unit is designed for indoor ceiling or wall mounting and includes integrated brackets for standard drop-ceiling rails.

How is the XV3-8 powered and what PoE step do installers often miss?

It requires 802.3bt or 802.3at PoE; the common mistake is using an 802.3af injector which cannot supply enough power for full tri-radio operation.
