Battery for Icom IC-GM1600 series

This 9.0 V lithium pack replaces the BP-234 cell in Icom IC-GM1600, IC-GM1600E and IC-GM1600K marine two-way radios. It supplies 3.3 Ah of primary power for operators who need a reliable spare or replacement. The yellow housing matches the original equipment colour.

Non-rechargeable primary chemistry

The battery cannot be recharged once depleted, so it suits users who prefer single-use cells over rechargeable packs. It delivers 29.70 Wh total energy before disposal. No charging circuit or cycle management is required.

3.3 Ah capacity for extended talk time

The 3300 mAh rating supports long shifts on the water without a mid-day swap. Runtime ends when the cell voltage drops below the radio’s operating threshold, at which point the pack must be replaced. Not suitable for users who want a rechargeable solution.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 3.3 Ah lithium version or a rechargeable alternative for my Icom IC-GM1600?

This BP-234 replacement is a 9.0 V 3.3 Ah non-rechargeable lithium pack; choose it only if your radio requires a primary cell, otherwise select a rechargeable BP-234 variant.

What runtime does the 29.70 Wh capacity deliver in an IC-GM1600E?

The 29.70 Wh rating translates to roughly 3.3 Ah at 9.0 V, giving several hours of typical transmit/receive cycles before the cell is exhausted.

Does the BP-234 interface limit voltage to 9.0 V in the IC-GM1600K?

Yes, the battery presents a fixed 9.0 V output through the standard BP-234 contacts, so the radio operates at its designed voltage without regulation overhead.
