What this converter does

The CAMWAY CAM058CAV converts analogue RCA composite video and audio into an HDMI 1080P or 720P signal at 60Hz. A toggle switch selects between 4:3 and 16:9 output ratios to match the original console image. The unit is powered by a USB cable connected to any DC 5V source and includes a 1.5ft HDMI cable in the box.

Replacing direct RCA connections

Older consoles and VCRs only offer composite outputs that modern displays no longer accept. This adapter bridges that gap so a Wii, PS1, PS2, N64, original Xbox, VHS player or DVD player can connect to a current TV, monitor or projector. The step up is worthwhile when the display lacks legacy inputs or when the built-in scaler produces a stretched picture.

Plug-in setup and common issues

No drivers are required; connect the RCA plugs, attach the USB power lead to a 5V port and link the supplied HDMI cable to the screen. The most frequent problem is no image when the USB power is missing or the source resolution does not match the selected aspect-ratio switch.
