Genuine Canon PGI-5 Black Pigment Cartridge

This genuine Canon PGI-5 black pigment ink cartridge holds 25 ml and is built for compatible PIXMA inkjet printers. It produces sharp, water-resistant text and line work on plain paper for home or office use. The single pack replaces an empty black tank without touching the colour cartridges.

Upgrade from dye black or refilled tanks

Pigment ink sits on the paper surface instead of soaking in, so text stays crisp after highlighting and resists smudges from moisture. The jump is worth it when you print contracts, invoices or school work that must stay legible over time. It is not for buyers who want photo-quality black on glossy paper or who need higher page volumes than the rated yield.

Straightforward tank swap with chip recognition

Open the printer cover, wait for the carriage to centre, press the release tab and slide the new cartridge in until it clicks. The onboard chip reports ink levels automatically, so the printer stops warning once the cartridge seats correctly. What usually goes wrong is forgetting to peel the orange seal completely or inserting the tank into the wrong colour slot.

Questions about this item

Which PIXMA models accept the 25 ml PGI-5 cartridge?

The cartridge fits PIXMA iP3300, iP3500, iP4200, iP4300, iP4500, iP5200, iP5200R, MP500, MP510, MP520, MP530, MP600, MP610, MP800, MP800R, MP810, MP830, MP950, MP960, MP970, MX700 and MX850.

What is the correct way to install the cartridge so the printer recognises it?

Open the top cover, wait for the carriage to move to the replacement position, press the cartridge down until it clicks, then close the cover; skipping the click step leaves the chip unread.

How often will the 25 ml pigment-black cartridge need replacing?

Expect roughly 500 pages per cartridge at standard coverage, so replacement frequency follows your monthly print volume.
