What the EOS M100 is

The Canon EOS M100 is a 24.2MP compact mirrorless camera body built around an APS-C CMOS sensor and the DIGIC 7 processor. It targets entry-level photographers and vloggers who want interchangeable-lens quality in a lightweight form factor. Wireless connectivity via Wi-Fi, NFC and Bluetooth simplifies image transfer and remote control.

What the bundled features change

The 3.0 inch tilt-type LCD rotates up to 180 degrees for low-angle compositions and self-portraits. Dual Pixel CMOS AF delivers up to 49 phase-detection points for fast, accurate focus on stills and video. Creative Assist and Self Portrait modes guide newer users through exposure and colour adjustments directly on screen.

Installation and common issues

Mounting an EF-M lens is a simple bayonet twist; the camera powers on and prompts for language, date and Wi-Fi pairing within seconds. Beginners sometimes leave the touchscreen disabled in the menu, losing tap-to-focus and tilt-screen advantages. Continuous autofocus drops to 4 fps, so fast action may need the 6.1 fps AF-lock mode instead.

Questions about this item

Does the 24.2MP APS-C sensor require periodic cleaning, and how is it accessed?

The sensor sits behind the EF-M lens mount; dust can be removed with a blower or the in-camera cleaning function when a lens is detached.

What limits continuous shooting at 6.1 fps with AF lock?

The buffer fills after a short burst at 6.1 fps, so sustained speed depends on card write performance and file format chosen.

How hot or loud does the body get during all-day 60 fps video?

Extended 60 fps recording warms the grip area; the camera has no fan, so it runs silently until thermal protection pauses recording.
