Compact mirrorless kit for creators

The Canon EOS R50 bundle pairs a 24.2 megapixel APS-C sensor with an RF-S 18-45mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM lens. Dual Pixel CMOS AF II covers 100% x 100% area with 651 zones and tracks people, animals and vehicles. It records 4K uncropped video at up to 30 fps and Full HD at 120 fps.

Check RF mount lens compatibility and SD card speed

The camera uses the RF mount so existing EF or EF-S lenses need an adapter not included here. An 8 GB SDHC card is supplied but 4K recording benefits from a faster UHS-I or UHS-II card. A microphone port is present for external audio and the USB-C port supports UVC/UAC webcam use.

Upgrades from older APS-C or smartphone setups

The jump is worth it when you need 651-zone autofocus with deep-learning subject detection and oversampled 4K from 6K. Built-in flash and Advanced A+ Assist expand auto-scene coverage for difficult lighting. The bundle adds a UV filter, case and cleaning kit for immediate shooting.

Questions about this item

What accessories come in the box and what must I buy separately?

The bundle includes the EOS R50 body, RF-S 18-45mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM lens, UV filter, 8GB SDHC card, camera case and cleaning kit. A spare battery or larger capacity card would be separate purchases.

How do I choose between the 18mm and 45mm ends of the zoom?

Use 18mm for wide scenes or vlogging at arm's length; use 45mm for tighter framing or portraits. The variable f/4.5-6.3 aperture means less light at 45mm.

What does the 24.2MP sensor deliver in actual 4K video?

4K is uncropped and oversampled from 6K at up to 30 fps, while Full HD reaches 120 fps for slow motion. Dual Pixel CMOS AF II covers 100% x 100% with 651 zones.
