Entry-level DSLR body

The Canon EOS Rebel T7 is a new DSLR camera body sold without a lens. It uses a 24.1MP APS-C CMOS sensor and the DIGIC 4+ image processor. Built-in Wi-Fi and NFC allow wireless sharing and remote control. The 3.0 inch LCD has 920,000 dots and the optical viewfinder covers approximately 95 percent of the frame.

Continuous shooting pace

The camera captures up to 3 frames per second in continuous mode. Its 9-point autofocus system includes a centre cross-type point and AI Servo AF for moving subjects. ISO ranges from 100 to 6400, expandable to 12800 for lower light. Full HD 1080p video records at 30 frames per second.

No lens included

This package contains only the camera body, so buyers who want to shoot immediately must purchase a compatible EF or EF-S lens separately. The body lacks a built-in flash commander for off-camera units and does not support UHS speed class memory cards.

Questions about this item

Does the DIGIC 4+ processor run hot or drain the LP-E10 battery quickly during long 1080/30p video sessions?

The DIGIC 4+ processor is designed for efficient 14-bit processing, and the camera uses a single LP-E10 battery; extended video recording will consume power faster than stills, so a spare battery is practical for all-day shoots.

Which EF or EF-S lens do I need to start shooting since the body ships without one?

Any Canon EF or EF-S lens mounts directly; the 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II kit lens is the standard match, but the camera accepts the full EF/EF-S lineup.

Will my older EF lenses from a film-era EOS body autofocus and meter correctly on this 24.1MP APS-C sensor?

Yes, every EF lens works natively with the 9-point AF system and 95% viewfinder coverage; on the APS-C sensor each lens gives a 1.6× narrower field of view compared to full-frame.
