Canon EW-55 Lens Hood for RF 28mm f/2.8 STM

Lens hood for RF 28mm f/2.8 STM

The Canon EW-55 is a dedicated lens hood designed specifically for the RF 28mm f/2.8 STM lens. It blocks stray light from entering the lens to reduce glare and flare in images. The accessory also provides a physical barrier that helps protect the front element from impact, scratches and the elements. It is a simple add-on for photographers using this specific prime lens.

Compatibility check before ordering

Verify that the lens you own is the RF 28mm f/2.8 STM, as the EW-55 mounts only to this model. Confirm the filter thread size matches the hood's mounting requirement, which is indicated by the model number 55. Ensure no existing filter or adapter prevents the hood from seating correctly. The product is sold as a single unit without additional hardware.

Suited for RF 28mm owners needing flare control

This hood suits photographers who shoot the RF 28mm f/2.8 STM in bright or backlit conditions and want to minimise lens flare. It also appeals to users who want extra front-element protection during transport or outdoor use. Buyers using any other RF or EF lens should look elsewhere, as the mount and shade angle are tailored to the 28mm focal length. It does not serve video-specific needs such as matte-box integration.
