Compact 4K camcorder with 20x optical zoom

The Canon Vixia HF G70 captures UHD 4K30 video using a 1/2.3" CMOS sensor and DIGIC DV 6 processor. Its 20x optical zoom covers 29.3 to 627mm while recording in 4K. Dual SD card slots allow simultaneous recording to two cards. The bundle includes a 32GB SanDisk Extreme PRO card, gadget bag, card reader, blower, microfiber cloth and starter cleaning kit.

MP4-only recording and USB-C video output

Video is recorded exclusively in MP4 format at up to 3840 x 2160 resolution and 30 frames per second. Slow-motion reaches 0.5x speed and fast-motion up to 1200x, with interval recording available in both HD and 4K. The USB Type-C port provides a video-only UVC stream for live streaming to a computer; it does not carry data or power for other peripherals.

Check SD card capacity and computer USB port

Dual slots accept SD, SDHC and SDXC cards, but the included card is 32GB. Long 4K sessions will require additional high-capacity cards. The USB-C connection is for UVC video output only, so verify your computer has a compatible USB-C port and streaming software that recognises UVC devices. The 3.5" touchscreen LCD and 0.36" tiltable OLED EVF are fixed on the body.

Questions about this item

Should I use the included 32GB card or buy larger cards for the dual slots?

The bundle includes a 32GB Extreme PRO card rated at 95MB/s; adding a second card of the same speed class lets you record simultaneously to both slots without bottlenecking the 4K30 bitrate.

What does UHD 4K30 mean for actual recording time on a 32GB card?

At 3840 x 2160 and 30 fps in MP4, a 32GB card holds roughly 40 to 50 minutes; switching to HD extends that significantly while still using the 20x optical zoom range.

How does the USB Type-C UVC connection limit live-streaming quality?

The USB Type-C port outputs video only with UVC support, capping the stream to the camcorder's maximum UHD 4K30 signal; it does not carry audio or control data.
