Pocket-sized 8x binoculars

The Carson Scout JD-822 is a compact Porro prism binocular with 8x magnification and 22mm objective lenses. It uses BK-7 prisms and fully coated lenses to deliver a 393 ft field of view at 1,000 yards. Weighing 6.0 oz with dimensions of 4.00" x 3.40" x 1.10", it fits easily in a pocket or bag for everyday carry.

Suited for casual daytime viewing

This model suits spectators at sporting events or concerts and walkers who want lightweight optics for occasional use. The 10mm eye relief may feel tight for eyeglass wearers who need longer relief for comfortable viewing. Buyers who need larger objectives for low-light performance or waterproof construction for harsh weather should look at other designs.

Center focus with independent right diopter

A center focus wheel adjusts both barrels simultaneously while the independent right diopter compensates for vision differences between eyes. This combination allows each user to set the binocular precisely for their own eyesight, which is the key specification for achieving a sharp image with this instrument.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 8x22mm model or a different magnification for general outdoor use?

The only version described is the 8x magnification with 22mm objectives, giving a 393 ft field of view at 1,000 yards and weighing 6.0 oz for pocket carry.

How does the 393 ft at 1,000 yards field of view feel when I am actually watching a game or concert?

At 1,000 yards you see a 393 ft wide scene, so from typical stadium seats the entire stage or pitch section fits comfortably in view.
