Portable 12mm label printer

The CASIO P12 is a direct thermal desktop printer weighing 180 grams and supporting 12mm wide media. It includes 64MB flash memory and a USB interface for wired connectivity. The compact unit measures 14.33in wide by 12.83in high by 9.06in deep. It is suited for home, office, school and gift-wrapping organisation tasks.

Thermal operation without ink

Direct thermal technology eliminates the need for ink, toner or ribbons during standard printing. The mechanism produces black or colour labels on supported media without consumable cartridges. A rewind cutter handles label separation after printing. Heat resistance for compatible media ranges from -20°C to 120°C depending on the specific tape type used.

Media variety expands uses

The printer accepts paper, plastic, satin ribbon and iron-on fabric tapes at 12mm width. This allows creation of waterproof, oil-proof, scratch-proof and tear-proof labels as well as decorative ribbon tags for gifts. Bundled starter rolls let users begin printing immediately. Software provides multiple templates for kitchen, pantry, garage and office labelling projects.

Questions about this item

How do I install the label tape in the P12, and what step causes paper jams?

Open the cover, drop the 12mm roll in with the label side facing out, pull the tape forward about 5 mm past the cutter, then close the cover; skipping that 5 mm pull-out is what causes jams.

What consumables will I need to replace on the P12 over time?

Only the 12mm direct-thermal label rolls or ribbon cassettes — there is no ink, toner or separate ribbon cartridge to buy.

What is the first limit I will hit when printing many labels in a row on the P12?

The operating range tops out at 40 °C, so extended runs in warm rooms can trigger thermal throttling before the 64 MB buffer fills.
