Celestron 51635 StarPointer Pro Finderscope

The Celestron 51635 StarPointer Pro is a dedicated astronomical finderscope designed to simplify the process of locating celestial objects. It replaces traditional single red dot finders with an innovative dual-circle LED reticle system that frames targets without obscuring them. A generous 40 mm optical window provides a broad field of view for easier navigation. The unit attaches quickly to compatible telescopes via a sturdy dovetail connection secured by finger knobs.

Ideal for visual astronomers seeking faster target

This finderscope suits observers who want to spend less time centering objects and more time viewing through the eyepiece. The dual-circle reticle aids starhopping by acting as a measuring tool for angular separation. Buyers requiring a magnified optical finder with crosshairs for precise astrophotography alignment should consider alternative finderscope types. It is not a standalone viewing instrument and requires a host telescope for operation.

40 mm optical window with dual-circle LED reticle

The defining specification is the 40 mm aperture combined with the unique dual-circle reticle pattern. This configuration delivers a wide, unmagnified field of view that frames targets rather than covering them with a single dot. The LED illumination is adjustable for varying sky conditions. Compatibility depends entirely on the telescope having a matching dovetail mounting shoe or an appropriate adapter bracket.

Questions about this item

Which telescope dovetail rail will accept the StarPointer Pro 51635 finderscope?

The finderscope secures with a sturdy dovetail connection and finger knobs, so it fits any standard dovetail rail on your telescope tube.

Will the 40 mm optical window vignette when paired with a narrow-field eyepiece?

The 40 mm window provides a broad field of view that comfortably encompasses the eyepiece field, so vignetting is unlikely with typical astronomy eyepieces.

How do I verify the dual LED reticles are aligned after mounting?

Center a bright star in both circular reticles; when the star sits inside the rings simultaneously, the finder is collimated and ready for accurate goto alignment.
