Celestron C5 127 mm Schmidt-Cassegrain Spotting

This Celestron C5 Spotting Scope uses a 127 mm aperture Schmidt-Cassegrain optical system with StarBright XLT coatings for high light transmission. It is built for bird watchers, nature enthusiasts and anyone wanting detailed views of distant subjects. The compact design measures 11 inches in length and weighs six pounds for transport to field locations.

Fixed 50x magnification with 25 mm Plossl eyepiece

The scope delivers a fixed 50x magnification through the included 25 mm Plossl eyepiece. That eyepiece provides a 1° apparent field of view and 22 mm eye relief for comfortable extended viewing. A near focus of approximately 20 feet allows detailed observation of plants, wildlife and insects at close range.

6x30 finderscope and photo tripod adapter included

A 6x30 erect image finderscope helps locate and centre subjects quickly in the main optics. The bundled photo tripod adapter lets you attach a camera for photographic use. The instrument can also serve as an astronomical telescope for viewing stars.

Questions about this item

What does 50x magnification with a 25 mm Plossl eyepiece actually deliver in the field?

It gives a 1° apparent field of view and 22 mm eye relief, so you see a wide, comfortable image at high power for extended sessions.

How does the 1250 mm f/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain system limit photographic use?

The fixed f/10 focal ratio means longer exposures are needed compared with faster optics, but the 1250 mm focal length provides high magnification for detailed planetary and terrestrial shots.

What mounting hardware is required to attach this scope to a standard photo tripod?

The included photo tripod adapter fits the scope directly to any tripod with a standard 1/4-20 thread, adding no extra length or weight.
