Celestron CGX 1100 11" Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope

The Celestron CGX 1100 is an 11-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope mounted on a motorized CGX equatorial head. It features StarBright XLT optical coatings for high light transmission and comes with a NexStar+ hand control for automated object location. The package includes the tripod, accessory tray, three 11 lb counterweights, and an 8mm Allen wrench.

Ideal for serious visual observers

This system suits astronomers who want the light grasp of an 11-inch aperture with a stable, computerized equatorial platform for long-exposure imaging or extended visual sessions. Buyers who need a highly portable grab-and-go setup or who lack a permanent power source for the 12V DC mount should consider smaller instruments.

11-inch aperture with StarBright XLT coatings

The 11-inch aperture gathers 1593x more light than the unaided eye and provides 89% more light gathering than an 8-inch telescope. This aperture, combined with the StarBright XLT coatings, is the decisive factor for resolving faint deep-sky detail and reaching the stated 660x highest useful magnification.

Questions about this item

How long before dew forms on the 11-inch corrector plate during all-night imaging?

Dew forms at different rates depending on humidity and temperature; a dew shield or heater is the standard way to keep the corrector clear for multi-hour sessions.

How much fan or motor noise does the CGX mount produce during overnight tracking?

The CGX mount uses low-vibration servo motors that run nearly silently, so the only audible sound is typically the occasional slew or meridian flip.

Which power source is required to run the mount and hand controller all night?

The system needs a 12 V DC supply capable of several amps — a portable power tank or regulated AC adapter with the included cable will keep it running.
