Precision Equatorial Mount Head

The Celestron CGX-L is a computerized equatorial mount head designed for serious amateur astronomers and astrophotographers. It supports heavy optical tubes with a 75 lb load capacity while maintaining a compact form factor. The integrated handles and adjustable head position simplify setup in a backyard observatory or remote imaging station.

144 mm Worm Wheels and 270 mm Dovetail

The 144 mm diameter worm wheels deliver smoother tracking and higher accuracy under heavy loads. A 270 mm dovetail saddle provides a wider, more stable platform for large optical tubes. The 31.5 mm stainless steel counterweight shaft and belt-drive system further reduce backlash for precise long-exposure imaging.

PWI Control Software and Aux Ports

Included PWI telescope control software enables advanced pointing and imaging workflows from a computer. Multiple Aux ports and a dedicated autoguider port keep cables organized and support direct guide-camera connections. This bundled software and port layout streamlines remote operation without requiring separate controller hardware.

Questions about this item

What does the 75 lb load capacity mean for my imaging setup?

The mount can carry up to 75 lb of optical tube, camera, and accessories while maintaining precise tracking for long-exposure astrophotography.

What does the 144 mm worm wheel diameter do for tracking accuracy?

The larger 144 mm worm wheels provide smoother motion and reduced periodic error, which is critical when guiding heavy imaging loads.

Will my optical tube fit the 270 mm dovetail saddle?

The 270 mm saddle accepts standard Losmandy D-series dovetail bars, so any tube with that profile will mount securely.
