NexStar Evolution 8" Schmidt-Cassegrain Kit

The Celestron NexStar Evolution 8 is a motorised Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope kit designed for astronomy, night viewing and astrophotography. It features a 203.2 mm aperture with a 2032 mm focal length at f/10. Integrated WiFi allows wireless control via the Celestron mobile app on iOS or Android devices, supplementing the included NexStar computerised hand controller.

Check power and app compatibility before ordering

The mount runs on an internal 9.6 V 4.5 Ah LiFePO4 rechargeable battery rated for up to 10 hours of operation. A USB charge port is provided for powering external devices. Ensure your smartphone or tablet runs a compatible version of iOS or Android for the Celestron app. The kit includes two Kellner eyepieces (40 mm and 13 mm) and a star diagonal.

Stainless steel tripod

An adjustable stainless steel tripod supports the motorised fork mount, which tracks objects automatically once aligned. StarBright XLT optical coatings enhance light transmission through the Schmidt-Cassegrain optical tube. SkyAlign technology simplifies the alignment procedure using the hand controller or the mobile app. The integrated battery removes the need for external power packs during field use.

Questions about this item

What eyepieces and accessories are included in the 12091 kit and is a separate power supply needed?

The kit includes two Kellner eyepieces (40 mm and 13 mm) and a star diagonal. An internal 9.6 V 4.5 Ah LiFePO4 battery provides up to 10 hours of operation so no external power supply is required.

How do I choose between the two supplied eyepieces for different observing targets?

Use the 40 mm eyepiece for 51× wide-field views of large nebulae or star clusters. Switch to the 13 mm eyepiece for higher magnification on planets, the Moon or compact deep-sky objects.

What does the 2032 mm focal length at f/10 mean for real-world imaging and visual use?

The 2032 mm focal length yields a narrow field of view ideal for planetary detail and small galaxies. At f/10 the system is slower, so longer exposures are needed for deep-sky photography compared to faster telescopes.
