A 1.25" UHC/LPR filter that blocks light-pollution wavelengths while transmitting over 97% of nebula emissions for darker skies and higher contrast
The Celestron 1.25" UHC/LPR Filter is a premium optical accessory designed to improve telescope views by blocking artificial light pollution. It selectively reduces wavelengths from mercury and sodium vapour lamps as well as natural oxygen glow. Advanced coatings deliver over 97% light transmission across the bandpass for a darker sky background.
Observers under light-polluted skies will benefit from the filter’s ability to suppress unwanted wavelengths and reveal emission nebulae. Rural users wanting maximum contrast on deep-sky objects also gain an advantage. Visual observers who only view the Moon, planets or star clusters will not see an improvement and should look elsewhere.
The 1.25 inch thread matches common telescope eyepieces and diagonals, so the filter installs without adapters. It comfortably handles emission-line targets such as planetary and diffuse nebulae by isolating their key wavelengths. Broadband targets like galaxies and reflection nebulae receive less benefit because their light spans the blocked bands.
Measured against everything we stock in Binoculars, Scopes & Sights, at today’s prices. Recalculated every night.

The 1.25 inch thread screws directly into any standard 1.25 inch telescope eyepiece or diagonal barrel.
The coating blocks mercury and sodium vapour lines plus neutral oxygen glow while passing the nebula emission bands, so star colours stay natural and nebulae gain contrast.
Point the telescope at a bright suburban sky; the background should appear noticeably darker while the Orion Nebula or similar emission nebulae show stronger contrast against it.
