Replacement battery for Mackie FreePlay PA

The Centenex Electronics DS-CS-MFP622XL is a lithium-ion pack built to replace the original J22622 cell in the Mackie FreePlay portable PA system. It restores cordless operation for musicians, presenters and event staff who rely on the speaker away from mains power. The pack is supplied new and fully compatible with the host unit.

Practical limits of the 7.4 V lithium-ion interface

The chemistry delivers a nominal 7.4 volts and 6800 mAh, yielding 50.32 Wh of stored energy. Runtime scales with the PA's volume setting and signal content, so high-output shows will drain the pack faster than speech-only use. Capacity fades gradually over charge cycles, and the pack cannot be hot-swapped while the speaker is powered on.

Deciding specification: 156.00 x 53.46 x 35.30 mm

The physical envelope of 156.00 by 53.46 by 35.30 millimetres determines whether the battery seats and latches inside the FreePlay compartment. A pack with different dimensions will not engage the contacts or secure correctly, even if voltage and capacity match. Verify the cavity measurements before ordering.

Questions about this item

Which Centenex DS-CS-MFP622XL battery version fits the Mackie FreePlay PA system?

The DS-CS-MFP622XL is a single 7.4 V 6800 mAh lithium-ion pack built to replace the Mackie J22622 cell in the FreePlay and FreePlay Portable PA models.

What runtime does the 50.32 Wh rating give in the FreePlay speaker?

At 50.32 Wh the pack stores enough energy for several hours of typical PA use; actual run time varies with volume level and signal content.

Does the 7.4 V lithium-ion interface limit charging speed or compatibility?

The battery uses the standard 7.4 V lithium-ion chemistry the FreePlay charger expects, so it charges at the system's normal rate without extra hardware.
