Chicago-Latrobe 50822 25/64 Cobalt Bit

The Chicago-Latrobe 50822 is a cobalt steel drill bit sized at 25/64 in. It features a 135-degree split point for accurate starts and reduced walking on hard materials. Right-hand cutting direction suits standard drill chucks. The straw finish identifies the cobalt construction.

Suited for machine screw work

This bit suits machinists drilling precise holes in stainless steel or tough alloys where the 135-degree geometry improves chip clearance. It is not for buyers who need a coolant-through design for deep-hole drilling or a coated bit for extended wear in high-volume production.

Questions about this item

Will the 25/64 in cobalt bit run true in an older drill press with a 1/2 in chuck?

The 25/64 in diameter fits a 1/2 in chuck and the 135° split point reduces walking on the first cut.

How can I confirm the 135° split point is cutting cleanly after I clamp the bit?

A clean, centred hole with minimal burr at the 0.3906 in decimal size shows the point is working.

Does the 50822 come with a case or lubricant, or must I buy those separately?

Only the single cobalt screw-machine bit is supplied; a case and cutting fluid are separate purchases.
