Chicago-Latrobe 55439 Silver/Deming Drill 39/64

This Chicago-Latrobe 55439 Silver/Deming drill bit is designed for general-purpose drilling in metal using a standard chuck. It suits machinists and maintenance technicians who need a 39/64 inch cutting diameter with a reduced shank.

High-speed steel construction

The high-speed steel body and 118 degree point angle allow the bit to enter the workpiece cleanly when used at appropriate speeds. Installation is straightforward in any compatible drill chuck. Premature wear or breakage usually results from excessive feed pressure or insufficient lubrication during operation.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the 118-degree point angle is cutting correctly after installing the 55439 drill bit?

The 118-degree point angle should produce clean, centred holes in steel without wandering; if the bit cuts smoothly and the hole diameter matches the 39/64-inch size, it is working as intended.

What comes in the box with the Chicago-Latrobe 55439 Silver/Deming drill and what must I supply separately?

The box contains the single HSS drill bit with a black oxide finish; you will need to provide a compatible drill chuck or reduced-shank holder and cutting fluid for the material you are machining.
