Air-powered 1/2-inch impact wrench delivers 450 ft-lb breakaway torque and 310 ft-lb fastening torque at 9,000 RPM with three speed settings
The Chicago Pneumatic CP7732 is a 1/2-inch drive pneumatic impact wrench built for general-duty fastening and removal tasks. It delivers 450 ft-lb breakaway torque and 310 ft-lb fastening torque to handle stubborn bolts on automotive and heavy-equipment jobs. The pistol-grip design runs on 90 psi air pressure with a 20 cfm consumption rate. Three speed settings give the operator control over output.
This wrench replaces smaller 3/8-inch drive units or older 1/2-inch models that stall on high-torque fasteners. The jump is worth it when you regularly face bolts requiring more than 310 ft-lb of fastening force or 450 ft-lb of breakaway force. At 9,000 RPM free speed and 1,400 impacts per minute it reduces job time on suspension work, wheel changes and structural bolts. The 155.2 ft-lb/lb power-to-weight ratio means strong output without excessive operator fatigue.
Verify your compressor can deliver a steady 90 psi at 20 cfm to keep the tool at rated performance. The inlet requires a 1/4-inch NPT fitting and the manufacturer specifies a minimum 3/8-inch hose diameter to avoid flow restriction. Exhaust exits at the bottom of the handle, so ensure routing does not direct debris toward the work area. Confirm the 1/2-inch square drive matches your impact socket set.

Use a minimum 3/8 in hose and connect to the 1/4 in NPT air inlet at 90 psi.
Supply 90 psi at the tool, use a 3/8 in hose, and select one of the 3 speed settings before starting — many forget to verify pressure at the tool.
Expect routine lubrication and seal checks; the 106 dB sound level and 1,400 impacts per minute mean internal components wear over time.
