Fixed Extension Column Length

The Chief CMS018W is an 18-inch white extension column designed for projector installations. It provides a fixed drop distance to position the projector at the correct height. The column is intended for use with compatible mounting systems in commercial or residential settings. Its white finish suits light-coloured ceilings and walls.

Compatibility Checks Before Ordering

Verify that your projector mount uses the Speed-Connect interface for a secure connection. Ensure the mounting surface can support the combined weight of the column and projector. Confirm that an 18-inch fixed drop matches your required image alignment and ceiling height. The column does not offer height adjustment after installation.

Replaces Shorter Or Adjustable Drops

This column replaces shorter fixed columns when a longer, non-adjustable extension is needed for proper projector placement. It upgrades from makeshift piping or non-certified extensions that lack structural rating. The jump is worth it when a permanent 18-inch drop simplifies alignment and provides a clean, professional appearance. It is not for installations requiring variable height adjustment.

Questions about this item

What does the 18" CMS018W extension column include, and do I need to buy the projector mount separately?

The 18" white extension column is sold as the column itself; the RPA mini universal projector mount (RSAUS) is listed with the WP21US wall plate kit, so the mount is a separate purchase for this column.

Should I choose the 18" column or the 21" WP21US wall plate kit for my installation?

Choose the 18" CMS018W column when you need a fixed white drop length from a ceiling structure; choose the WP21US kit when you need a wall-mounted solution with the mini mount included for wood, steel or concrete studs.

How does the 18" length affect projector positioning once the column is installed?

The 18" fixed drop positions the projector 18 inches below the mounting surface, giving a set clearance for alignment without adjustable height.
