4-Channel PoE NVR for IP cameras

The CHILI Electronics PRO-X LXN7104-P4 is a 4-channel network video recorder with four built-in PoE ports for direct camera power and data. It records at up to 80 Mbps total throughput and supports resolutions up to 8 MP (3840 x 2160). Designed for small installations needing a single 1U appliance.

Installation and common issues

Connect each IP camera to one of the four PoE RJ45 ports; the recorder supplies power and network link automatically. A single SATA hard drive up to 10 TB mounts inside the 1U chassis. The unit only provides a 10/100 Mbps uplink, so total bandwidth is limited to 80 Mbps and Gigabit infrastructure is not supported.

Deciding specification — 80 Mbps recording bandwidth

The 80 Mbps incoming bandwidth ceiling determines how many high-resolution streams can be recorded simultaneously. At 4K it handles two channels; at 4 MP it handles four. Buyers needing more than four cameras or higher aggregate bitrate must choose a recorder with a larger bandwidth budget.

Questions about this item

How can I verify the recorder is capturing 8 MP footage on all four channels after installation?

Check the live view and playback menus to confirm each channel displays 3840 x 2160 resolution and that the incoming bit rate stays within the 80 Mbps total budget.

What items ship with the unit and which storage component must I purchase separately?

The box contains the 4-channel NVR with four built-in PoE ports, one HDMI output, one VGA output, one RCA audio in/out and a single RJ45 network jack; a 3.5-inch SATA hard drive up to 10 TB must be bought separately.

Should I choose the 4K 8 MP recording mode or the 4 MP mode for my four cameras?

Select 8 MP if you need maximum detail on two cameras, because the recorder supports two channels at 3840 x 2160; choose 4 MP if you want all four channels recording simultaneously at high resolution.
