Explosion-Proof IR Dome Camera

The China Bks BL-EX480NI-I is a 6 MP network dome camera built for hazardous-area surveillance. Its IP68-rated housing resists water and dust ingress while the explosion-proof design meets the safety demands of industrial and high-risk commercial sites. The 1/3" Progressive Scan CMOS sensor delivers 3840 × 2160 resolution at 30 fps, capturing detailed footage in challenging environments.

Installation Flexibility and Common Hurdles

The camera offers pan adjustment from 0° to 360°, tilt from 0° to 90° and rotate from 0° to 360°, allowing precise aiming after mounting. A 4 mm fixed lens with F1.6 aperture provides an 83° horizontal field of view. PoE support simplifies cabling, though installers must ensure the junction box and conduit meet the same explosion-proof rating to maintain compliance.

Capacity Limits and Practical Headroom

Triple-stream encoding with H.265+, H.265, H.264+ and H.264 keeps bit rates between 256 Kbps and 16 Mbps, easing storage and bandwidth loads. The 120 dB wide dynamic range handles high-contrast scenes, while IR illumination reaches 0 Lux for night operation. Low-light colour sensitivity stops at 0.01 Lux, so extremely dark areas without IR will lose colour detail.

Questions about this item

How can I verify the BL-EX480NI-I is recording at 3840×2160@30fps after installation?

Log into the camera web interface or NVR and confirm the main stream shows 3840×2160 at 30 fps (60 Hz) with H.265+ selected; the status page also displays the current bit rate between 256 Kbps and 16 Mbps.

What accessories come with the BL-EX480NI-I and what must I source separately?

The camera body with 4 mm fixed lens (F1.6, 83° horizontal FOV) is included; you must supply a PoE switch or 12 V DC power adapter, network cabling, and a mounting surface — no bracket, injector or SD card is bundled.

Which lens option should I choose for the BL-EX480NI-I if I need a wider view than the 4 mm?

Select the 2.8 mm variant for a 92° horizontal field of view; the 6 mm version narrows coverage to 51° horizontal. All three share the same 1/3" CMOS, 120 dB WDR and triple-stream H.265+ capability.
