Pocket-Sized Batch Mobile Computer

The CipherLab 8000 Series A8001RSC00005 is a pocket-sized mobile computer built for batch data collection. It features an integrated linear imager and 21 rubber keys with white LED backlight. The unit stores data in 4MB SRAM and runs on a rechargeable Li-ion battery. IrDA connectivity at 115.2 Kbps supports local communication.

Suits Workers Needing Simple Batch Scanning

This device suits retail, healthcare and field-sales staff who capture barcodes during a shift and upload later. It does not suit operations that require real-time wireless connectivity or on-device application processing. Buyers who need a built-in radio for live inventory lookup should look elsewhere.

Cradle-Dependent Charging and Data Transfer

A separate charging and communication cradle is required to power the battery and move collected data to host systems. The cradle is sold separately, so budget and desk space must account for this extra accessory. Without it the terminal cannot recharge or offload its batch files.

Questions about this item

What cradle is required to charge the A8001RSC00005 and transfer batch data?

A dedicated charging and communication cradle is required; it is sold separately and provides both power and the IrDA link for batch uploads.

Can the 8000 Series terminal send scanned data directly to a legacy IrDA-equipped PC?

Yes, the built-in IrDA port runs at 115.2 Kbps and can exchange batch files with any compatible infrared adapter on older hardware.

How do I confirm the linear imager scanned a barcode correctly on the A8001RSC00005?

A successful scan triggers an audible beep and the decoded data appears on the display; the batch record count also increments.
