Cisco Console Cable 6 ft RJ45 to DB9F

This Cisco console cable provides a direct serial link between a network device console port and a management workstation. The 6 ft copper conductor terminates in an RJ45 plug on one end and a DB9 female connector on the other. It is intended for administrators configuring routers, switches or firewalls that present an RJ45 console interface. The cable arrives new and ready for immediate deployment.

Suited for RJ45 console ports only

This cable suits engineers who need a standard RJ45-to-DB9F rollover connection for Cisco equipment. It is not for administrators whose console ports use USB, mini-USB or a different serial pin-out. Buyers requiring a longer or shorter reach, or a DB9 male termination, should look at something else.

Questions about this item

Will this 6 ft Cisco console cable connect directly to the RJ-45 console port on my Catalyst switch?

Yes, the cable has an RJ-45 connector on one end that plugs straight into the RJ-45 console port found on Cisco switches and routers.

Can I use this DB-9 female end with an older laptop that only has a serial port?

The DB-9 female connector mates with a standard DB-9 male serial port, so it works with legacy laptops or USB-to-serial adapters that present a DB-9 male interface.
