Indoor Wi‑Fi 6 access point

The Cisco Catalyst 9120AXE‑B is an indoor wireless access point built for Wi‑Fi 6 networks. It uses a 4x4 flexible dual‑radio design that can run two 5 GHz radios or a 5 GHz and a 2.4 GHz pair, delivering up to 5.38 Gbps. Integrated Cisco RF ASIC powers CleanAir analytics, while embedded IoT radios support BLE 5.0 and Zigbee for location services.

High‑density enterprise deployments

This unit suits offices, schools and venues that need high client capacity and RF intelligence from a single ceiling‑mounted device. It is not for buyers who need outdoor‑rated hardware, models with built‑in multi‑gigabit uplinks, or controllers that require a separate physical appliance.

Ceiling‑mount with optional clips

The box includes the access point, a pointer card, mounting brackets and ceiling‑grid clips for standard tile installations. Power comes via PoE, so a compatible switch or injector is required. The embedded controller simplifies initial setup, but advanced policies still need Cisco DNA Center or a supported management platform.

Questions about this item

What PoE standard must my switch or injector support to power the Catalyst 9120AXE-B?

The unit is powered over Ethernet and needs a PoE source capable of supplying the access point and its dual-radio array.

Will the 5 GHz radios interfere with legacy 2.4 GHz clients I keep on the same network?

The AP runs flexible dual radio with a 2.4 GHz radio and two 5 GHz radios, so legacy clients stay on 2.4 GHz while newer devices use 5 GHz.

How can I verify the embedded controller is managing the AP after installation?

The embedded wireless controller provides network monitoring and troubleshooting functions accessible through the AP's management interface.
