Cisco Business 240AC Wireless Access Point

The Cisco Business 240AC is a compact wireless access point built for small-to-midsize enterprise networks. It supports IEEE 802.11ac Wave 2 with 4x4 MU-MIMO and four spatial streams. The unit handles up to 400 concurrent users and delivers a maximum wireless data rate of 1.69 Gbit/s. It is designed for businesses that need predictable Wi-Fi performance in a small form factor.

Dual Gigabit Ethernet and PoE power

Two autosensing Gigabit Ethernet ports provide wired uplinks and Power over Ethernet (PoE) input, removing the need for a separate power supply. A USB 2.0 port and an RJ-45 console port are present on the hardware but are not functional in the current firmware. The status LED conveys boot loader state, association status, operating status and any boot warnings or errors.

Ceiling or wall mount with standard PoE

The access point measures 7 x 7 x 1.5 inches without brackets and weighs 0.94 lb. It mounts to a ceiling or wall using the included hardware and powers up over any IEEE 802.3af/at PoE source. Installers should note that the console and USB ports cannot be used for configuration or debugging, so initial setup must be done over the network. The RJ-45 console port is non-functional.

Questions about this item

How often will the omnidirectional antenna need replacement under normal operation?

The omnidirectional antenna is integrated into the access point and has no user-serviceable parts, so no scheduled replacement is required.

At what point does the 400-user capacity limit affect performance during sustained high-density use?

The access point supports up to 400 connected users; beyond that threshold, association requests may be rejected or throughput per client will degrade.

What heat output and power draw should I expect when the unit runs 24/7 on PoE?

Powered via IEEE 802.3af/at PoE, the access point draws up to the PoE class limit and operates within the 0.94 lb chassis without a fan, so heat is dissipated passively.
