Connects Cisco Nexus 9000 switches at 40 or 100 Gb/s over multi-mode fibre up to 328 ft using a single LC duplex port
This Cisco QSFP transceiver module delivers 40 Gigabit and 100 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity over a single LC duplex multi-mode fibre link. It supports 40GBASE-BiDi and 100GBASE-BiDi standards for bidirectional transmission. The module is designed for Cisco Nexus 9000 series switches including the 93108, 93180, 9336, 9348, 9364, X9732, X9736, and X9788 platforms.
As a passive optical transceiver, this module produces no audible noise and requires no active cooling components. Power draw is limited to the electrical interface of the host switch port. Thermal output is negligible within the switch chassis, contributing zero additional fan load in normal operation.
The LC duplex connector enables 100G connectivity using standard two-fibre multi-mode patch cords up to 328 ft. This reduces cable bulk compared to parallel optics and fits existing duplex infrastructure. Compatibility is restricted to the listed Nexus 9000 models; other switches or line cards will not recognise the module.

Insert the module firmly into a QSFP+ port until it clicks, then connect the LC duplex multi-mode fibre; the step often missed is removing the dust caps from both the transceiver and the patch cable before seating them.
The transceiver itself has no user-serviceable parts; plan to inspect and clean the LC duplex connectors and the multi-mode fibre patch cords periodically, and replace any cable showing high insertion loss or physical damage.
The 100GBASE-SR BiDi reach is specified up to 328 ft on OM4 multi-mode fibre; beyond that distance the link will not meet the 100 Gigabit Ethernet error-rate target.
