Purpose and Audience

The Cambridge solar post cap is a low-profile outdoor light designed for fence, porch or deck posts. It suits homeowners who want automatic dusk-to-dawn illumination without wiring.

Upgrade Context

It replaces wired low-voltage caps or disposable battery lights that require frequent changes. The jump is worthwhile when an existing 6x6 or 5.5x5.5 post has no convenient power source and the installer prefers a self-contained unit.

Build Fit

The cast aluminium housing with powder coat finish mounts directly over the post using the included adaptor. Two surface-mount LEDs powered by one AA Ni-MH cell deliver 10 lumens at 4500-5500 kelvin for up to 12 hours, freeing the project from trenching or transformer sizing.

Questions about this item

Will the 6×6 Cambridge cap fit my 5.5×5.5 in post without extra parts?

Yes — the pack includes an adaptor so the same cap sits on an actual 6×6, a 5.5×5.5 or a 5×5 in post.

What is the only step required to make the light turn on automatically each night?

Flip the auto-off switch to the on position after placing the cap on the post; no wiring or programming is needed.

When the light stops lasting 12 hours, which component do I replace?

Swap the included AA Ni-MH rechargeable battery for a fresh one of the same type.
