Solar Post Cap for 4x4 Posts

It is made from durable cast aluminium with a powder-coated black finish and includes real pebbled glass panels. Two long-life AA Ni-MH rechargeable batteries are supplied in the pack of two caps.

Up to 12 Hours of Illumination

High-output surface-mount LED technology delivers 12 lumens of brilliant white light at 4500 to 5500 Kelvins, which is three times brighter than standard LEDs. The unit lights automatically at dusk and includes an auto-off switch for manual control. A full charge keeps the cap lit for up to 12 hours through the night.

Check Post Dimensions Before Buying

Verify that your existing wood post matches the nominal 4x4 size so the 3-5/8 inch square opening seats correctly. The caps require direct sunlight to recharge the included batteries fully. Buyers who need wired lighting or higher lumen output for security purposes should consider alternative solutions.

Questions about this item

How long will the Colonial Solar Post Cap stay lit after a full day of sun?

The integrated solar panel and two AA Ni-MH rechargeable batteries keep each cap illuminated for up to 12 hours once darkness falls.

What size wood post is required for the 3-5/8-inch square opening to fit properly?

The caps are made for a nominal 4x4 wood post; the actual post must measure 3-5/8 by 3-5/8 inches so the aluminum housing slides on securely.

Will the 12-lumen, 4500-5500 K white LEDs match the warmer glow of older low-voltage landscape lights?

The LEDs produce a brilliant white light in the 4500-5500 K range, which is noticeably cooler than the yellow tone of traditional low-voltage fixtures.
