A high-speed steel drill bit with a 118-degree point angle and reduced shank for drilling larger holes
The Cle-Line C20753 is a Silver & Deming drill bit designed for general-purpose metal cutting. Its 118-degree point angle suits standard drilling tasks in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 1/2-inch reduced shank allows use in drill presses and larger handheld drills with smaller chucks. It is intended for machinists and maintenance technicians who need a versatile high-speed steel cutter.
As a non-powered cutting accessory the bit generates no electrical noise or power draw of its own. Heat produced during cutting depends entirely on the machine spindle speed feed rate and coolant use. High-speed steel construction tolerates normal machining temperatures but will lose hardness if overheated. Proper lubrication and speed selection manage thermal load effectively.
The bit is manufactured from machining-grade high-speed steel with a black oxide finish that aids chip flow and reduces galling. The reduced shank design fits standard 1/2-inch chucks while the 7/8-inch cutting diameter handles larger hole requirements. It is not suited for hardened steels or high-volume production where carbide tooling would last longer.

Open the chuck fully, insert the shank until it seats against the jaws, then tighten securely; the step users miss is checking that the shank sits flush so the 118 degree point runs true.
Resharpen when the 118 degree point dulls enough to increase feed pressure; high-speed steel can be reground multiple times before the 7/8 in diameter is reduced beyond usable length.
Heat buildup at the black-oxide finish is the first limit; without coolant the high-speed steel loses temper, so pause frequently to let the 7/8 in body cool.
