A 39/64 inch high-speed steel jobber drill bit with a 118-degree point and black oxide finish for general-purpose drilling
This Cleveland jobber drill bit is made from high-speed steel with a black oxide finish for general-purpose drilling. The fractional 39/64 inch size suits metalworkers and maintenance technicians who need a precise hole diameter. A 118-degree point angle and right-hand spiral flutes provide reliable cutting action in steel and other ferrous materials. The straight shank matches the drill diameter for standard chuck compatibility.
As a non-powered cutting tool, this drill bit generates no electrical noise or power draw during operation. Heat produced while drilling depends on the workpiece material, cutting speed and the use of cutting fluid rather than the bit itself. The black oxide finish helps retain lubricant and reduces friction compared to uncoated high-speed steel. Proper feed rates and coolant management keep temperatures in a workable range.
The bit is manufactured to ASME B94.11M-1993, ensuring dimensional consistency for jobber-length twist drills. This standard governs flute length, overall length and shank dimensions so the tool fits predictable workflows. List number 2001G identifies the specific catalogue configuration for reordering. No additional accessories, software or coolant-through features are included with this bit.

Open the chuck jaws wide enough for the .6094 inch straight shank, insert the bit fully so the shank seats past the jaws, then tighten securely; the step often missed is not seating the shank deep enough, which causes run-out.
The black oxide finish reduces friction, but the 118 degree radial point will dull; resharpen the cutting lips to the original 118 degree angle using a drill-bit sharpener or bench grinder, and wipe flutes clean to prevent chip packing.
Chip evacuation through the 5.1875 inch spiral flutes becomes the limiting factor; the non-coolant-through design means heat builds up, so retract the bit frequently to clear chips and allow cooling.
